What is beaver lick?

Beaver Lick is a small unincorporated community located in Boone County, Kentucky, United States. It is named after a salt lick that attracted beavers which used the salt to build their dams. The community is situated along the Ohio River, about 15 miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio. Beaver Lick was settled in the late 1700s and has a rich history, being home to many historic buildings and sites such as the Cooper Cabin, the Beaver Lick Baptist Church, and the James A. Ramage Civil War Museum. The area is also known for its natural beauty, including parks and nature preserves such as the Big Bone Lick State Park and the Boone Cliffs Nature Preserve. Today, Beaver Lick is a quiet rural community with a small population, surrounded by farmland and forests.
